Along with my day job as President and CEO of Inspirien, I serve as the Chairperson for The Hospital Insurance Forum (HIF), which is a non-profit association made up of volunteers from our member companies who are passionate about our mission to provide members with a forum for education, idea sharing, and networking to reduce their overall cost of risk while promoting patient safety. This is my 1st year of a three- year Chair term and it has been an unusual Freshman Year, to say the least.

The Hospital Insurance Forum hosted its 2020 Member Conference Virtually for the first time since its founding in 1987. Through the WHOVA platform, we were able to offer the same vibrant programming and impactful networking with even more opportunities for our member organizations to engage by participating remotely.

Our speakers engaged in topics ranging from COVID-19 to Medical Marijuana to Artificial Intelligence and all points in between. The focus was on healthcare professional liability, but we dabbled a bit in all healthcare risks. We also got advice from Bruce Springsteen’s Livin’ in the Future as well as information from a galaxy not so far away in The Defense Strikes Back.

The world has been impacted in so many ways this past year, but our industry, as well as the healthcare industry we support, has taken an unprecedented role on the front lines. Healthcare is currently facing so many challenges related to risks associated with the delivery of care, which is why it is so important for our member companies to stay connected through HIF.
